There was once a pope and a lawyer who died at the same moment and while waiting to stand before Saint Peter, they became acquainted with each other in conversation.

They were both let in. The pope got a room in an old building with all the other popes, and the lawyer got a mansion next to a beautiful golf course, water pond - very nice place.

One day that pope was out walking with the Lord and asked him “Lord why do I only get a tiny room and he gets that mansion?“

The Lord replied, “well we have something like 400 popes up here but that’s the first lawyer we’ve ever seen.”

Don't forget number 8: Everyone and their mom magically becomes a shrewd Papal critic, and an expert authority on what the next Pope should do.

Wait whuh? So the Sede’s are going door-to-door now? So the LDS have the black name tags, the JW’s have their shoulder bags and Watchtower magazines…wonder what the Sedes look like. 🤔

I am struggling to pray for our holy father for various reasons related to the frustration I feel towards the confusing comments often attributed to him. I will pray for him and the holy Catholic Church as best I can. I don’t want to throw rocks or disrespect the hierarchy in any way. I suspect I am not alone in this struggle. Lord have mercy on us all.

Although, not a Catholic myself I recommend we follow God's word and pray for our leaders. Remember that he (The Pope), although Holy (set apart) is only human and therefore imperfect just as you and I are. God's Will be done ❤️

If you guys are interested, I recently wrote a reflection on the state of uncertainty regarding the Pope's help, and how a lesson from the Book of Numbers can help us to navigate it! For anyone doing Bible in a Year, it couldn't come at a more convenient time- it's based on today's, Day 63, reading!

Excellent synopsis on this ancient process. I may be mistaken but I believe Pope John Paul II clarified that Cardinals under the age of 80 at the time of the current Pope's death are eligible to vote as well. I am praying for the Holy Father each night. If he passes on, I will pray for the Holy Spirit to work through the Conclave to elect a strong leader for our beautiful church and all it's people.

Something I was wondering earlier: is it possible to gain plenary indulgences while the papal seat is absent, since one of the requirements is to pray for the intentions of the Holy Father? Does Canon Law have alternate requirements for those times?
